Full-Stack Developer - Existing Systems & Application Maintenance

We are looking for a practical and dependable Full-Stack Developer to support and maintain our existing software applications and ongoing development projects.

This role is primarily focused on maintaining, troubleshooting, updating, and improving established systems. You will work with existing applications, understand their architecture and codebase, resolve technical issues, implement new requirements, and help ensure our systems remain stable, secure, and reliable.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, reviewing code written by others, understanding existing business logic, and making careful changes to production applications.

This is a hybrid position based in Cambridge, Ontario. Candidates should be within reasonable commuting distance and able to attend the Cambridge office as required.

• Maintain, support, and enhance existing web applications and internal software systems.

• Review and understand existing codebases and application architecture.

• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across frontend and backend applications.

• Implement new features, updates, and business requirements.

• Maintain integrations with third-party services and APIs.

• Support cloud-hosted applications and deployment processes.

• Perform application testing and help ensure system stability and reliability.

• Maintain technical documentation for key systems and processes.

• Identify opportunities to improve performance, maintainability, and code quality.

• Make careful changes to existing systems while minimizing disruption to current functionality.

• Work independently on assigned projects while communicating technical risks, progress, and issues clearly.

• Assist with software updates, dependency upgrades, and general application maintenance.

• Participate in issue resolution when production problems arise.

Must-Have Qualifications

• 3+ years of relevant software development experience.

• Strong experience with Node.js.

• Strong experience with React and/or Next.js.

• Experience with JavaScript and/or TypeScript.

• Experience working with REST APIs.

• Experience using Git / GitHub.

• Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases.

• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.

• Experience maintaining or supporting existing production applications.

• Ability to review and understand unfamiliar codebases.

• Ability to understand existing business logic and system workflows.

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

• Strong communication and documentation skills.

• Redux / Redux Toolkit

• AWS or another major cloud platform

• Firebase

• CI/CD experience

• Experience with application monitoring and deployments
